Well I'd say that Gekitotsu Robots is clearly based on Custom Robo, which is more of an arena fighter than the classic Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat style fighting game.

The thing is, one of Paradox's forms is very explicitly called "Fighter Gamer" which leads me to believe THAT form's genre is supposed to be the side-view button masher fighting games. Keep in mind GiriGiri Chambara is sort of Samurai/Chinese warrior themed, so maybe you're right. Maybe they're going for Dynasty Warriors with that one.
