Say what you will about the villain plot being a slow burn but DAMN if it didn't pay off. Kubar's plan was actually pretty genius in my opinion, but it felt like he tipped his hand far too early. Maybe next time make sure that what you're throwing at the guy you're trying to assassinate will 100% actually kill him (barring unexpected power-ups of course).

Like how about, instead of throwing everything at him at once, have just the Zyuohgers fighting him and using the fake Micchan to get them emotional to the point where they start winning. Then, have the rouges gallery hang back and jump out for the finishing blow if the Zyuohgers don't quite pull it off. It'd still be messed up by Genis' power-up but it seems less risky than just proclaiming your hatred right off the bat and losing any chance at back-stepping.

One thing I will say about the slow burn approach is that it was actually more of turning off the stove at points and then turning it up to incinerate. The main plot stuff just seemed to be condensed into one or two episode blocks and then forgotten about for chunks of episodes. That's not to say the plot stuff isn't awesome, it just gets a little overwhelming having all this stuff happening at once instead of some of it happening over time.
