I mean, yes. You could argue that basing him off of a transforming robot seems like more of the given route. But let's be fair, most Japanese robots are based on Samurai in one fashion or another anyway.

Yeah, but suits of armor generally go ON TOP of your limbs, not ARE them, you know? Still, I'm just wondering what spurred that little bit of creativity to be perfectly honest.
