Oddly enough that some of the first Tokusatsu superheros where inspire by DC heroes (Super Giant aka Starman inspired by Superman and Gekko Kamen inspired by both Batman and the Lone Ranger (Not DC though).

I do agree that American superhero TV shows and movies are the closet thing that we have Toku shows and movies. Not to mention Tokusatsu just means "Special Effects" in Japan. Any movie and TV show in Japan with large use of special effects are consider to be Tokusatsu (Sci-Fi movies that are not Henshin heroes like The H-Man, Battle in Outer Space and Prophecies of Nostradamus are consider to be Toku films).
