I haven't seen any absolute crazy hate. Absolute crazy hate would be making creepy rage meltdown vlogs or sending angry threats to Saban, not just... leaving comments of dislike with varying levels of analysis, interpreted with varying levels of anger by the reader. The most nasty and rude comments here are people telling "haters" to shut up, not people shitting on the movie. Most of the "negative" comments, on this board at least, are just criticism. This board aside, there's always going to be stupid haters as well as stupid fanatics, there's no point in trying to change that.

A lot of people come to message boards and Facebook groups to find a community and share their thoughts and share in the good times and the bad, but it seems negativity far outweighs the positivity in situations such as this one and I cannot figure out why.
Maybe because more people see more about it to dislike than like.

You said you don't watch Power Rangers, so the movie really shouldn't matter to you at all, regardless of whether or not you find it visually pleasing or not.
I just don't understand the need to make a negative comment on something that doesn't affect you.
Of course you understand that people have the right to criticize it, don't you? Your whole argument seems to be built on the impression that this thread is seething with hatred and calls for the heads of the filmmakers on spikes, but it's not. It's just criticism, and then people getting extremely snarky at "haters" for criticizing it. There was no drama in this thread until somebody decided to get
overly offended
at an "overly negative" comment.

There are plenty of times and situations when I could say something because I see or hear something I don't like, but I don't feel a need to. If that were the case, I'd probably be on every thread, every group, finding some way to utterly tear apart everything about a subject.
I just don't feel a need to voice a negative opinion on something just because I can, and if it doesn't affect me, personally, I certainly don't see a need to do so. Those who are positive about a situation like to enjoy the brief high they got out of what they just experienced. They don't always need a voice coming along and telling them how awful everything is.
After a certain point, people do get sick of it.
Well, obviously. But you and a few others are the ones interpreting it as excessive.

Sometimes formula just works. Look at Coke vs New Coke. Messed with the formula, tried to change it and it was an utter disaster. It was the source of a ton of jokes in the '80s and even changed how big corporations do business and make plans for the future. Heck, the fact that it can even be brought up today tells you how much of an impact it had. Sometimes sticking to formula just flat out works.

That's not inherently a negative and people need to stop pushing it as if it is.

Power Rangers

A formulaic plot is fine. Formulaic comedy, acting, and designs are not, and when those are formulaic, it comes a cross as a lack of motivation to make a good movie instead of a cash cow. Formulaic means originality, work, and creativity was not put into it.

Then how come you're pushing constant positivity? Yes, that's putting words in your mouth - but you're telling people just posting their opinions normally to shut up because they're "negative".

Examples of not so great movies....

My point? Just because a trailer gives you an idea or an expectation now, doesn't mean the film will be that way. You automatically assume this film will be shit, you really don't know for sure.
But the point of a trailer is to give you a taste of the movie so it looks good and convince you to watch it. Just because what we've seen of the movie could misrepresent it doesn't mean we shouldn't criticize what's being presented as what the movie is.
Quote:
Part of that mindset? Negativity breeds negativity. You see others do it, you feel justified and it spreads like a virus. Is it really that hard to even try and see something positive about this film? I don't think so.
Well, obviously. You can also say Hitler's mustache was cool, but there's not really a point to finding something positive to say about Hitler, is there? Yeah, yeah, Hitler analogy, eyeroll, eyeroll. Point being that negativity doesn't inherently need to be tempered, especially when it's not really "negativity" and it's just criticizing a dumb movie.

Alright, now this is a critical comment I can sort of work with. At the very least, you laid it out in fine detail as to what's bothering you about it instead of "I hate it, I hate it! No, I don't have to explain it to you. It's stupid and you're wasting your money!" which is basically the gist of most negative comments on message boards and FB groups.
I mean, you can just ask people why they don't like it. I'm sure 99% of people would be happy to explain why they don't like it, just like people are happy to explain why they do. If you want
me
to elaborate, here;
So far, it looks like a cast of Sam Witwickys, Mikaela Baneses, and those frat boys from Transformers 2. And in my opinion, those are not likable characters in the least. The comedy matches this - it reminds me very much of the Transformers films.
"Pee in that cup!" Ha ha ha, it's funny because it's awkward I guess.
"I'm black!" Ha ha ha, it's funny because black is a race, so it's awkward for the black guy.
As a side note, I find awkwardness/humiliation to be the most grating possible form of comedy - although that doesn't really apply to these jokes since they're kind of just
nothing.
More like, not funny at all, but people laugh because of the comedic timing. That's just me, though.
That's the main thing that bugs me, really. The screenwriting is indicating that it will be flat, boring, obnoxious, and cliche in the exact same way as Transformers or miscellaneous other sci-fi films. I could comment on designs or whatever but I don't really care about those, even if I may dislike some part of them.
