Carranger 37-38:

Just two this time. I suppose that evens out watching four episodes in my last sitting, or something. Anyway, and brace yourselves, this might be a real shocker, but this show is still absolutely stellar.

37 shows once again how smart Carranger is, and I'll remind you, the whole point of this show is to be as dumb as possible. The (rather meta) plot revolves around the team getting really cocky and overconfident after constantly beating the bad guys week after week, while the bad guys become painfully aware of the fact they constantly get their crap kicked in by the team in a scene involving a notebook graph showing their current record (with one whole victory!), complete with dates corresponding to the actual air dates of the episodes, part of a fun little bit of detail throughout Carranger where events are consistently referred to as happening "last week" and such. Most of Toei's shows vaguely take place in real time, but Carranger takes it to the extreme. The attention to detail with Carranger in general is insane. Just one of many, many, many things to love about it.

38 features a guest star whose voice is distractingly dubbed over for some reason (I guess they didn't like the guy's voice?). I mean, it's a normal episode and it's good and all but this is like all I can think about it. It's so weird, and the lip sync goes full on "old Godzilla dubs" at points, not to mention I'm pretty sure you can faintly hear the actual actor's voice left in under the dubbed one in at least one scene. Really bizarre stuff.
