See, I don't get that when you have Zeo, In Space, Lightspeed, and Time Force in that mix. I may not like the Lights of Orion but it gave the Lost Galaxy an arc to get their power ups. I get what you're saying about the Neo-Saban stuff. But really only the Megaforces are the ones I feel have this problem and that's due to shoving 50 episodes of sentai into a 20 episode season.
I feel that Disney wasn't so much better written. Dino Thunder literally had the main rangers fall into their powers with no training or reason.
Operation Overdrive may have had a different plot but that didn't make it good. Treasure hunting was a good idea but poorly realized due to budgetary constraints.
As for using theme, I don't see how you can say that either. Lightspeed utilized the theme with Time Force being a near one for one adaptation. I don't know how well Dino THunder maintained their theme since they were trying to make it closer to the original MMPR in many aspects.
Again, I think the current growing pains of Power Rangers on Nickelodeon is the main reasoning here. The main issue with Samurai/Megaforce has been deleted (you know who) and while DC/DSC wasn't without it's problems I don't think you can write it off.
Samurai had a tight production time and overzealous need from it' runner to directly adapt Sentai word for word. Megaforce had to burn through 50 episodes of footage and PRSM had to so many last minute changes it wound being the straw that cost what's his face his job.
I won't say Ninja Steel is a direct repeat of DC simply because the dad subplot. I'm willing to see where it's going.
