I mentioned this in a post above yours, but no. We only have secondhand knowledge on the novel, but while it says he steps on a mine, it never says he dies because of it. It's mentioned as part of his life, showing how he can't die despite kind of wanting to. And...

They're not referencing it, in any case. The first article we got about this noted how the other three died in their series, but only notes that Kenzaki disappeared at the end of Blade...

Also the novel is set 300 years in the future so even if it was canon it wouldn't have happened yet...
