Welp bad news everyone, the Play Arts Kai QC disaster struck me. I got a SFIV Ryu and Armored Batman this weekend. Armored Batman is awesome, except I think the factory workers screwed in the hole in his open left hand wrong as the hand is at an angle. Eh whatever I just use the left fist instead. Excellent figure.
Now Ryu. WTF. That joint on his right arm that connects his arm to the chest and provides a pectoral pivot, that thing SNAPPED off out of the box. LUCKILY I was able to fix it yet RETAIN the articulation! This is where plamo building experience comes in handy. I scraped off some of the paint from the contacting surfaces using an exacto knife. The joint broke because it was stuck(fused due to painted joints being attached while still wet). Luckily it was a clean break. After some sanding down, what I did was "dry fit" the joints back together, and saw if the joint would still move. Luckily, sanding down the contact surfaces decreased the tension/resistance.
So I pulled out my trusty krazy glue and dabbed it onto the broken pieces. Held the pieces together. Every 20 minutes/hour or so I would move the joint so that if any glue seeped onto the moving parts, they wouldn't all dry stuck together.
Woke up the next morning and it's FIXED! I mean yeah the pivot joint is looser than before but hell at least the damn thing I repaired isn't broken anymore! However BIG WTF with this happening. One would think the factory workers would at least have the decency to not put the figure together while the paint is still wet.
If you guys buy these figures I would toss them in the freezer before moving for the 1st time. Leave them there for a few minutes. Ideally the cold will break the seal of the paint on stuck joints. If not, hair dryer. Ugh.
At this point I am trying to fix my regular Arkham unarmored Batman. Loose right shoulder. Falls out of the body a lot. Ugh.
