Anyway, I'm done. Probably shouldn't have been reading this thread before trying to watch the episode, but I got about five minutes in - the point where the little kids show up and start throwing rocks at the monsters - before I decided that I really just didn't care to see where this went and there are far more interesting things I'd rather devote my time to than this underwhelming pile of disappointment.
