Some bad guys just lose appeal over time. Every time I've read Spider-Man comics in my youth the Vulture was the type of villain who would appear in a one shot or as a member of some group, never as someone who could hold his own in an ongoing story-arc.

And even at that part he wasn't too memorable. Honestly I would've preferred Shocker as the big bad or maybe even Mysterio. He's a bit obscure but at least you can have fun with him, sky's the limit with what they could achieve through special effects with that character. I mean special effects are what this guy is all about. Vulture is, well, flying monster guy.

I'm not trying to be too hard on the movie for this, starting out with a really popular baddy who requires a lot of setup isn’t a good way to go either. Some villains like Doc Ock or the Goblins need some time, I agree with you on that one. And Michael Keaton alone is making this a lot more interesting.

And that’s why it will suck. Venom needs to be attached to Spider-Man to really work, and the classic Venom doesn't need to be R-rated either.

I expect a shitty Agent Venom crapfest.
