The word "kyu" can be utilized in many ways depending on the kanji. In terms of Kyuranger the most obvious ones are the number "9" and "orb/sphere/ball". Other words that can be associated are also "save" or "ultimate". So in conclusion I think initially it is best to consider the number 9 as the default meaning since this is also a reference to Gorenger which means five rangers and since the default roster are the first nine Kyurangers. But because of wordplay one must also consider orb/sphere/ball, ultimate, and save/rescue as well.

What about Kyutama then? The sub just has it as Kyu globe, but i can't seem to get it to come out that way? Is it just a name and no meaning?
