I have to say, despite some flawed storytelling, I like what this season was trying to do.
Chihiro becomes the end game final boss. And that's freakin' mindblowing considering he was our protagonist for the majority of the season and seemed like a standard heroic Rider, fighting monsters and being fairly noble. Then it goes downhill. We basically find out he's a living virus and then EVERYBODY in the show starts gunning for him, which causes him to be concerned with his survival, as well as Iyu's. This whole season, we basically watched the hero become the villain, and only because he was back into a corner. And the most heartbreaking part of it is that NONE of it was within his control. In fact, it's also a key part of Jin's development. Chihiro's suffering, and all of the events surrounding it, are the direct result of his actions.
And that's one thing that Amazons has the freedom to do. Because normally with that type of story arc in a Kamen Rider show, the Rider would gain control of his powers, convince everybody to his side and ride off into the sunset with the other two Riders to tackle the next big bad. But here? Nope, it's just all tragedy for Chihiro.
