I mean that's better than discarding it completely but doing all this work to find the "Legendary Argo" just to receive another Ranger and his mecha who will be beaten to a pulp by regular MOTW's in about 5-10 episodes is kinda lame.

To be fair, getting the ultimate weapon to save the universe this early on wouldn't have worked anyways, but in that case, they should've just played down the myth a bit.

However, if the real weapon/power to destroy Jark Matter is locked behind something the Voyager literally opens like a key would then all is forgiven, then they made something really clever with this, because as far as I remember the Argo was said to be "The key to defeating Jark Matter" or something like that.
