That would make sense if they literally were NPCs from video games that have gained sentience but they are suppose to first and foremost be some kind of computer virus, so how this relate back to that origin? Is the reason for their sentience be because they took on the appearance and personalities of video game villains? Was that just something that Kuroto programmed since he's the reason the Bugsters even exist?

Parad's thing has always been about playing by the rules. He didn't actually care about Bugsters or Humans being killed off (especially not Bugsters, since they can be revived), so long as both parties were willing participants. If we want to technical here, the reason Parad turned on Kuroto was because Kuroto treated the Bugsters like his own playthings. He killed Burgmon simply out of spite and used Motors as just bait. So Parad doesn't entirely care about the well being of the Bugsters, he does however care about how they are killed, and he also cares when someone tries to use them as pawns? That just seems like a bit too many motivations to me.
