Season passes, microtransactions, etc, are the biggest banes of gaming right now. The worst part is that people are stupid enough to buy it, which is why the publishers keep doing it. Look at We Happy Few. That game was a Kickstarter game, met its goal required to be released, and now they sold out to Gearbox, who doubled the price of the game, is now including a season pass, and they are releasing a $150 collector's edition that doesn't even come with the game. WTF?

Batman can compete with Supes. Shit like Harley however can't.

That's a different scenario than a big budget game being made with added content being made later. Plus, there's also the possibility that in the case of Hellboy and possibly Spawn, contracts and agreements were made post launch. As far as I know, only Darkseid was already finished before being DLC as he was a preorder bonus. There's a difference
