Interesting! I never considered that. Diecast would definitely be cool, aesthetically, but if you look at drivers used, they don't look like metal. Neither do some if the costumes, but when they fight the sound effects used denote that it is. When drivers and locks get dropped or thrown they sound like plastic to me. I guess they would be metal though, it only makes sense.

Now I'm kinda torn, your suggestions would look amazing, no doubt, but they wouldn't be entirely accurate to the show. Not that you haven't seen a 1000 times, but look at the pic I attached, that's clearly plastic and paint. Then again, most swords in films aren't really metal (props), yet when offered to collectors they are most certainly made of steal. Maybe if it was frosted metal and not chrome? That could totally work.

As far as the locks are concerned, if it's a CSM they wouldn't change the existing lock functionality. I have the W Driver and all they did to the USBs was added a sparkly sticker. All previous gimmicks fit as normal. The other mods were a darker red paint and black wash on the silver parts, and of course the belt itself is leather with a show accurate silver overlay and able to fit up to a 40" waist, I think.
