I'd say maybe "die cast-y" for Zyuranger through Timeranger and definitely "cardboard-y" for everything pre-Zyu.

Anyway, this was another show that never really wowed me with the mecha. Senpuujin looks okay, but I'm not a big fan of situations where over half of the combined mode is just one of the base robots. Gouraijin is probably my favorite; the matching colors and motifs works really well. I do like their combined form, too, but I really dislike anything involving Tenkuujin.
