Think about it, it's the same. The charaters have the same personalities, Troy's zord is the same as Rocky's, Gia's zord is the same as Trini's, Emma's zord is the same as Kimberly's Thunderzord, Gosei is a bodiless head like Zordon, Tensou has the same personality as Alpha 5, Jake has the same weapon as Zack, Troy has the same weapon as Jason, and so much more! The only real differince is the legendary powers.

The aesthetic similarities are the result of the Sentai and the minute possibility that someone saw those similarities. They do make for an interesting echo of the past, but they don't add anything!

It's freakin' Power Rangers!
Power Rangers is NOT meant to have an extensive plot. Not even the original had an extensive plot until Alien Rangers. If you want to watch a tokusatsu with a extensive plot, go watch Kamen Rider, or Ultraman!

Power Rangers wasn't meant to have an extensive plot, but most of the seasons since the original have added to the mythology in same way, shape, or form! Each one had a degree of charm in its own right, but Megaforce and Super Megaforce didn't give us a lot of reasons to respect it. If you emulate the original, you're supposed to capture the magic of days long past, not the mistakes. The original, for all of its faults which have become far more glaring as we get older, had a semblance of charm that Megaforce failed to recognize! PR had to grow a bit to find itself and a good sense of storytelling; to progress further, not regress backwards!

Originally this WOULD be a valid complaint, but heres the thing. Answer me this, how did MMPR explain the ninja powers, the zeo crystal, the cars, GOING TO SPACE!? They explain what it is, but thats it. Why would a robot whos not even Japanese give a couple americans ninja powers, why does the Zeo crystal have ancient egypian powers, why do they NEED to use cars, WHY DID THEY HAVE TO GO TO SPACE ONLY TO COME BACK A FEW EPISODES LATER!? And its not just MMPR. Why did LR need trains, why did RPM need cars to fight Venjix? And the poor explaining is still a thing. How was Keeper able to speak English when the English laguage wasn't invented yet, how did the Ninja Nexus Star fall from space when ninjas originate from Japan? And everyone still says the explaining was bad, just because of the "blitz" legendarys, and the pirates.
Now, I am not hating on any of these seasons, I just wanted to get my opinion out there since it's been bottled up inside me and i wanted to express it, and if you still don't agree thats fine.

Most of these complaints are simply the result of Saban adapting the Sentai for PR and having to deal with any inconsistencies as best as possible. Granted, there are some bad franchise explanations, and they need to be addressed in the near future.

Keeper speaking English prior to Earth society? Answer One: It only sounds like English for the sake of the audience. Answer Two: English derives from Space in the PR Multiverse. Answer Three: It's a show and not worth taking literally.

Ninja Nexus Star: Connection to Ninjor? Ninjas from Earth interacting with Space Aliens and developing their own style and Ancient Masters with a collection of Ninja Power stored within? Ninja Power comes from Space in the PR Multiverse? Connection to Lothor and his brand of Ninja skills? Alien Spies learning from Earth Ninjas? It's a show and not worth taking literally?

Pre-Zyu Legendary Powers: This seriously needs to be explained! They made a mistake by including them, but compounded that mistake by not explaining them! I can't imagine a kid who asks their parent or PR fanatic relative where these forms came from...only to be disappointed when few if any have an answer! They didn't even have figures for them!

They had a chance to make something almost as big as Gokaiger was, and they dropped the ball and decided that instead of picking it up and trying again, to go ahead and put the hoop in storage and leave it be!
