Power Rangers can strive to be more 20 years later. That applies to it both being an MMPR rehash and not having an extensive plot (also, Ultraman is hardly an epitome of extensive plot either a lot of the time).

MMPR is fun, a lot of fun at that. But it's dated and treated with nostalgia goggles by a lot of people, myself included. Franchises grow and succeed by evolving, not regressing.

Gokaiger homaged 35 years of Super Sentai but still managed to feel fresh. There's no reason why Power Rangers couldn't do the same.

Operation Overdrive's greatest achievement was making a terrible Sentai series even worse. That show is just as bad as far as I'm concerned.
