But in all honesty, as awesome as it was, it felt equally worrying since they got the upgrade pretty much directly from Stalk. It really does feel like this was all "part of his plan" and I hope there's some way the heroes can get around this.

I think Sento's Genius form is not from Stalk, but under guidance from Vernage.
