Well there's the oft repeated "it almost killed Sentai" line that got thrown around a lot. People used that to claim it was a bad show because the few older fans that had seen it way back when didn't enjoy it.

And then DVDs and subs came out and everyone realized...yeah it's actually a pretty bad show.

That said, I've been around the online tokusatsu fandom since 2004 and there are definitely a set of opinions that get parroted into reality because there was a time when the only people who watched older tokusatsu were the people who grabbed episodes via flea markets and tape trading. The "facts" that stand out the most to me are: Jetman is the darkest Sentai and the most popular one in Japan, same with Kamen Rider Black, Kamen Rider Amazons is a dumb show, Ultraman Cosmos is a "kiddy" show because the main character is a pacifist.
