GokaiOh
Given that Gokaiger was the anniversary series, GokaiOh design always felt like it was deliberately simple. There's nothing about that's too outlandish, just a simple pirate themed mecha with multicoloured limbs. I know I criticized Gosei Great for also being a bit too basic so it may seem weird that I'm fine with GokaiOh for doing a similar thing. Again, it's mostly because I think GokaiOh simplicity was a deliberate choice, plus I think the pirate theme here is emphasized better than how Gosei Great emphasized its angel theme.
Magi GokaiOh
Magi GokaiOh has one glaring fault that is unfortunately also shared by a number of other forms. That being the helmet remains the same. That seems like a very minor thing to complain about but given that some forms do give GokaiOh a new helmet which helps emphasized those forms as homages, it makes forms like Magi GokaiOh stick out because they don't do that. Besides that, I always think that if you're going to incorporate a detachable helmet into the design, make use of it instead of only doing it once or twice. Magi GokaiOh itself is kinda odd, what with the dragon torso on the front and the wings coming out from the shoulder. If there was maybe more details in the limbs rather than these empty pieces of black, it would have been a little more interesting.
Deka GokaiOh
Same issue as Magi GokaiOh, the lack of a new helmet makes this look like a slightly altered GokaiOh rather than an homage to Dekranger Robo which is what it's trying to be. That said, the form does looks more solid than Magi GokaiOh since you don't have anything jutting outwards. Plus the ability to use the pieces in the arms as pistols is pretty cool.
Gao GokaiOh
This form stands out from the past two due to the interesting way it combines. Given what GaoLion has to do later, it's cool that they were able to work in a form that homages a mecha from Gaoranger, that being Gao Centaurus. It's a pretty neat form.
Shinken GokaiOh
It's still a little odd that GaoLion is who they combine with to create this form. Is there some in joke I'm missing or did they just to kill two birds with one stone i.e create two homages with just one mecha. Whatever the case, this does make Shinken GokaiOh a rather interesting beast. While the various pieces are clearly GaoLion, it still manages to sell itself as an homage to ShinkenOh thanks to the Mojikara symbols around the body and more importantly, the new helmet. So yeah, I quite like it. It's a nice homage to ShinkenOh and the nature of its combination makes it standout a lot from the other GokaiOh forms.
GoZyuJin/GoZyuRex/GoZyuDrill
GoZyuJin is quite a nice sixth mecha and its choice to homage 3 different sentai is applaudable even though not all the homages quite stick. The one that most obviously doesn't is GoZyuDrill, the "homage" to Timeranger. Timejet Gamma is the only thing it vaguely resembles. I'm not gonna fault this form too much since this is a triple changer, and most triple changer usually have one form that ends suffering the most, which in this case is GoZyuDrill. GoZyuRex however id a very nice homage to the Zyuranger mechas, looking like some mix between Tyrannosaurus and DragonCaesar. It is rather good looking. GoZyuJin doesn't quite pull off its homage to Abaranger as well as GoZyuRex, but given that this is the main mecha of GokaiSilver, I suppose they still wanted to make it distinct from AbarenOh. At least it still has the drill arm. I also really like the big and chunky proportions, and it has a really nice colour scheme, the mix of gold, silver and blue are really well done and they make the red head pop really nicely.
Hurricane GokaiOh
Hurricane GokaiOh I think could be really cool given one or two adjustments. The biggest problem I have is the shurikens on the limbs. They just kinda look tacky with the way they hang off the limbs. So either get rid of them or integrate them better with the limbs. That aside, I do like most of Hurricane GokaiOh. I like the chest, the new helmet homaging Senpuujin looks really nice and the giant shuriken is a cool weapon.
GoZyu GokaiOh
It's an arm swap with GokaiOh. Yeah it's really not interesting. Next.
Go-On GokaiOh
Go-On GokaiOh is similar to Gao GokaiOh in terms of how it combines. The result of said combination however I don't think comes across as smoothly as Gao GokaiOh. Whereas Gao GokaiOh at least felt the designers being able to come up with a neat homage to something from Gaoranger, this on other hand felt like they struggled to come up with something that homages a mecha from Go-Onger, so they said screw it and plopped GokaiOh ontop of Machalon. So outside of Machalcon visual design, there's nothing about this form that really homages anything from Go-Onger
Kanzen GokaiOh
Our final combination. The concept of this form, that it's a power unique to the Gokaiger, does makes it fitting as a final mecha. The design is kind of a mishmash of a lot of different aesthetics, from the pirate motif of GokaiOh, the dinosaur motif from GoZyuJin, and the engine/vehicular motif of Machalcon. That said, it still all manages to work together somehow and since Gokaiger is all about homaging past series, the final mecha being this combination of aesthetics I think works. Plus the much more elaborate pirate hat is really cool, as is the giant engine fist.
Goren GokaiOh
Surprised that this never actually got a toy. You'd think Bandai would capitalize on that, given that this is the jet of the first Super Sentai. In any case, it is rather simple, just Variblune attached as a back pack. I'm fine with the simplicity though, since it is homaging the first series and it being simple feels appropriate for that.
Fake GokaiOh
I'm also surprised this never got a toy. Kind of a shame, cause this is a really cool design. Essentially a more evil looking GokaiOh that goes even further with the pirate motif, with the eye patch, the more ornate helmet, the hook hand and the cape. It really is sad this never got any toy representation. The closest we got was a planned Super Robot Chogokin figure, but that line so far seems dead so no hope there.
