When it comes to toku I'm kind of reserved on the subject, as no one I know irl watches it and I end up being the only one, staying up on a Saturday night to watch the latest Kamen Rider and Super Sentai episodes live.

I've been trying to convince my brother who is a massive weeb to watch Kamen Rider Gaim (on the basis that he's seen Madoka and liked it so I thought he might like more Urobochi stuff) but he's the type of guy who is more willing to do his own thing regardless of what anyone else says so no luck there. None of my closest friends could care less about it and I don't even mention it to people who have no idea what it is. Kind of why I ended up on these forums to be honest, to have someone to talk to about this stuff.

I don't really feel bad for watching the shows though. As long as the storyling is engaging (like Gaim or Build) then I am all for watching some action and am old enough to recognise the true intentions behind the shows. I also found myself preferring Rider for that very reason, because at it's best, it is worthwhile watching regardless of the fact that they are trying to sell you at least 20-30 toys a year per season and if you don't live in Japan you have to pay extra for shipping making it cost way more that it's worth to get a piece of plastic you'll probably end up leaving on a shelf as a display.
