They try to go all the way, but sento would be too lonely. Also, hey we didn't even get a mother son reunion, which was one of the dropped plot point consider how much retcon and changes there are to accommodate the movie and zio. If banjo is alive then that means everyone in this world is just alternate version not reborn version, which mean original Sawa and misora were deleted out of existence. It gets very complicated when they do this, but most kids probably won't over think.
