(Possibly 50 years of dealing with people like that. 20 years of dealing with it and I'm already pleading for a meteor to hit Earth on some days. Well, if it'd only wipe out the mean and willfully ignorant people at least.)

Notice that I didn't say a poorer life would've made Sougo hate the world, I said that him wanting money and power to take care of his loved ones would've made his desire to be a king and subsequent fall from grace more believable to me.
