I think the 'lying' thing is a more relatable aspect of teenagers/schoolmates working together to get around teachers. That's really not that uncommon in school. And we also see he's already getting used to this aspect because of Geiz and Tsukuyomi and having to constantly lie for them.
But it is interesting to notice the subliminal moral lesson built into that. His lying for the other student is what led to that student progressing further in the game that then drew the monster out. So this aspect of trying to help out to get around a teacher had instant karma that followed that hospitalized the student. So that "helping" directly caused harm. That subtle "actions have repercussions, even if you're doing a bad thing for a good reason or to help someone."

Another interesting thing on this episode is that it briefly through metaphor talks about gaming too hard and ending up sick from that or deathly ill. It's there through the subtext, but also not in an overbearing manner. Interesting commentary to use Ex-Aid for.
