Hey everyone, guess what time it is!
Time for this show to start taking off the training wheels apparently, because this episode was excellent.
First of all it once again feels
exactly
like an episode of Wizard, with the continued soap opera like story of the one-off cast (technically two-off, I guess), which was pretty well executed and interesting in its own right, I think. We haven't really had Double style two-parters for a while now, so honestly it's kind of nice seeing them again. For as repetitive as they can become
en masse
I've always felt this format had a lot of merits.
Second, our actual main characters are super solid at this point. I wasn't too hard on the earliest episodes because I figured once the series settled into a status quo, the characters would rapidly become less shallow, and much like when Ex-Aid had its whole cast assembled, that's exactly what happened.
Geiz and Sougo's dynamic in these episodes was great, but the main takeaway from this week is how the ending makes it explicit that Sougo growing a spine the way he has lately IS in fact deliberate character development. The way he bossed around Woz here was especially fun, and reminiscent of Eiji and Ankh's whole relationship in OOO.
This was just a really solid pair of episodes and I'm looking more and more forward to this show every week.
