Staying with your approach, another similar issue with Japanese-adapted media in America being changed due to 9/11 is with Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2001). They re-edited episodes, cut certain episodes entirely, and became something hopeful at the time with Optimus Prime being a fire truck.
