I think the trigger machines being able to change locks was planned in the beginning, since Goodie did point out that the trigger machines were significant.
But, much like everything else in the series, it got pushed aside because the trigger machines are, by default, the Pat's arsenal, and they don't want to push anything related to the Patrangers by the halfway point.

Anyway, eh, decent episode. If they established the trigger machine thing earlier, it would've been an interesting way to take out Zamigo. The fight was okay, and while I do like the Lupins pointing out that they've learned how to fight against him, ehhhh, I feel 4 fights is hardly enough time to memorize someone's patterns, especially by fight 3 he becomes bullet proof and changes how he battles anyway. Honestly, I just wanted to see more Dogranio. Motherfucker decimated a city, and then he's sidelined for the episode?

Also, if this was a 90's series, I'd be honestly concerned on whether the Lupins will make it out. But it's not, so I feel no investment or drama. I will be pleasantly surprised if they don't, though.
