i actually really like genis, even if he didn't have much of a backstory compared to some others. he's incredibly threatening during the final arc, and him being bored and aloof was fresh at the time, especially when we were coming off of kibaoni

but the main reason i like him is because of his thematic connection to the show, he's basically an antithesis to the theme of connecting that the show has. he's thousands of different being connected together, but hates it. he has multiple connections to his minions, naria most notably, and he actively cuts them all off for his own personal gain

he's not a perfect villain, all the issues people have with him are definitely legitimate, but i still liked him a lot. i liked dogranio, too, but he's definitely worse
