Finished Zeo. Overall, it was very ok. It's Rangers were good, Adam Rocky and Tanya got to really shine as characters of their own, not just as replacements for Jason, Zack and Trini, but Tommy ended up getting way too much focus. Speaking of Jason, bringing him back as the Gold Ranger was a cool idea, but they never did much with it. Honestly, I liked Trey as Gold better. Billy was an odd situation. He was my least favorite of the original 5, mainly due to him being the least believable as a teenager. David Yost looked more like someone in his late 30s. Him suddenly turning into an old man and leaving for Aquitar, only healing off screen definitely felt forced. I assume it was another case of the actor leaving unexpectedly.
As for the villains, the Machine Empire was boring. They had no charisma as villains. The Scottish one, Klank I think his name was, and Orbus were fun at least. Gasket and Archerina had potential, but unfortunately they left. Mondo and family getting blown up by Zedd was pretty funny at least.
What else is there to say? The plot was fine. It expiremented more in serial story telling instead of pure episodic Monster of the Week, and I appreciate that, but it never seemed to really go anywhere. I don't know, maybe it's just that I never watched much Zeo as a kid, so the lack of nostalgia is making it harder to ignore the fact that it's still just a simple kids show, but I just didn't get that into Zeo. It wasn't bad. The worst of Zeo was better than the worst of Mighty Morphin, but it never seemed to get much better than solidly ok. Hoping Turbo will be better. I remember really loving Turbo as a kid. I definitely remember the villain from the movie, Divatox, being really fun. Hopefully she lives up to memory, and is the villain of the show as well. I think she still was, but I can't remember for certain.
