No giant robot fight? When was the last time that happened? The first episode of LuPat?

Anyway, this was a great episode. I quietly respect Koh for being the first Red in ages to not merely avoid being the center of attention, but actually be a background character in a lot of episodes. Now, the problem with that is that this entire plot feels a bit out of nowhere. Ryusoulger is extremely lax about long-term plotting, and just inventing a backstory for one of the main characters halfway through the show seems reflective of that. In a more cohesive show, we would've at least gotten some hint of this early on, even if this kind of episode still didn't happen until later.

But... like I said, the episode is quite good. Regardless of how we got here, Koh has loads more depth to his personality now, and like some other particularly strong episodes of this show, there's a pretty solid message at the center that isn't so obvious as to be banal, and also isn't delivered in a ham-fisted way, so bonus points for that.
