Well, I'm usually more fine with them than most, and I've gotta say, they botched a lot of the lines a lot harder than I'm used to seeing from them in recent years. Not being able decide whether the Kyurangers come from a different universe (which they do) or a different
galaxy
(which they do not) is particularly embarrassing.
But the movie itself was, while nothing special, fairly entertaining. Mostly it was just neat to be reminded how nostalgic Kyuranger actually is for me. I loved that show to bits while it was airing, but since the show that came after it was... you know... it unfortunately isn't a show I think back to a lot. So as VS movie, it succeeds at its main job.
I wish it came together to be something more special like some of them are, but I think the optimal mindset for these movies is always just to treat it like a fun walk down memory lane for an hour with some neat moments sprinkled in. Standouts here for me include Lucky getting to show his more mature side talking to Keiichirou when he gets let out of his cell, because Lucky is always at his best when he isn't
just
yelling, and Micchan's completely inexplicable cameo, which might actually prove that he's at his best when
is
yelling.
