He's laid back and affable. There's no real rivalry with Eiji and when you expect some sort of rivalry with Gotou instead Date mentors and nurtures him. He's got an admirable background and he's cool under pressure like when the rubble fell on his old friend and he needed to keep her stable. And it's always nice to see a grownass man rather than the usual teen boys as a Rider.

Also, he's Guts. So that's fun.
