To be fair, Sentai has always existed to sell toys...but in the past, simple action figures were enough. These days, with so many stimuli competing for kids attentions, they need all of the crazy gimmicks to keep up.

That's not to say that the older stuff wasn't better, because it was. The only new Sentai that I've truly enjoyed since I got into it was Lupin vs Pato, and that's just because I thought the two-team dynamic was cool.
