That coupled with the fact that from candy toy to RAH, they are all quality collectibles, the merch is one of the major aspects to the series.

Yeah, it's always a little weird to me when people complain about a franchise being merchandise-driven, or being too "toyetic". Like, why would you be a fan of something that wasn't merchandise-driven or toyetic? That's the best part! You get to lose yourself in a rich, evolving narrative and get to go buy stuff from that rich and evolving narrative! It's like being upset that a delicious meal comes with an equally delicious dessert.
