There's certainly a similarity there. Shouichi's wholesomeness gives Agito its own edge, though:

You know, I was actually starting to wonder a bit now that you've been at this for a while if taking the time to actively sit down and write about batches of episodes has helped with the whole "everything blurs together" problem. I'm guessing not that much?

Ooh, I'm glad you brought this up! This is something I noticed rewatching Inoue's episodes of Ryuki that I really liked, where he'd insert little throughlines like this, that are comedic, and often a bit surreal, into scenes that otherwise exist largely to be "functional", in an attempt to spice them up a bit. It can make for some entertaining moments.
