My big problem with Gai/the competition arc isn't Gai himself, it's that ever since he came onto the show Aruto has taken a huge beating from the idiot stick. Aruto was always kind of naive, but he was never as dumb as he has been in the last few months. From repeatedly trying to restore a corrupted Humagear by yelling their name over and over to ignoring Gai's blatant cheating, it's getting ridiculous. The worst part for me so far (and I have not watched the latest episode yet as I have some major motivation issues with the show right now) was in the firefighter arc, where Aruto just stood there and let Yua slap the belt on the Humagear without trying to stop her. It's really hard to enjoy the show when the hero has become such a damn moron.
