Having watched BLACK now, I really appreciate why Ishinomori's early title for it was "Kamen Rider #0". It nicely conveys the idea of going back to the roots so far, you surpass the original in a way.

That arc is the perfect thesis statement for why RX is a great show in its own right. An epic four part adventure serial about a superhero braving the dangers of an inhospitable alien world, meeting new friends and enemies, suffering shocking betrayals, and discovering new abilities within himself, all for the sake of saving the life of a single little girl? And this show is supposed to be worse than its predecessor?

No way! That explains a lot about why those guys look so good. The monsters in RX are generally less creepy, but still wildly creative. Triplon from that aforementioned arc has gotta be my favorite. And yeah, Metalder is definitely something I'm interested in checking out at some point in the future, but, unfortunately for Metalder, I can kinda say that about a lot of shows.
