Ryuki absolutely nails making it clear why Shinji is THE Kamen Rider of the show, which is something important for any huge multi-Rider show to get right. You never want it to feel like they could swap out the name in the title and have it still make as much sense. Yeah, I think it's cool that the other hero Riders have people they'll protect (Eri, Yui), or they want to prevent violence, but it's literally only Shinji who mourns the death of Shibaura. I think this show maybe does a better-than-usual point of the sanctity of life, what with the central premise of the show being Fight Or Die. (Pretty sure I just made that up, don't think it's been on the show at all.) With all of the shades of grey, the equivocation and whatnot, there needs to be one character at this point who's, like, No. Every life is precious.

...but now I've got to finish writing about Episode 21, which may or may not undercut the point I just made!
