So for my thoughts about the PR movie, it was mixed. I loved the cast (even though as a purist I'm still iffy on the race change), but yeah the movie is a generic YA movie, which is technically an improvement on usual Power Rangers stuff, but I hate YA stuff.

But my biggest complaint is the handling of the suits. People watch superhero movies for the suits, and having them holding off until the third act was a huge mistake. They made it into a plot point that the Rangers need to learn to work as a team before they can morph. If they changed it to have them actually had been able to morph from the start, and the whole movie was them learning to work together to master the megazord, it would've improved the movie drastically.

Second, the action scenes. It was weak. It tells that the practice video on Youtube was far more entertaining than what we got, and I hated that outside of Red, the Rangers don't have weapons. MMPR is iconic for their weapons. And not only that, the Ranger fights are over immediately in favor of CGI Zord fights.

Third, the movie failed because of lack of marketing, and the fact that general audience still perceives Power Rangers as a joke. I remember going to the theaters abd it was only 10% full. March had nothing to do with it being a bad month to come, in fact March is the best time for it to come. Because before that, this movie was slated for January, you know, the dead month for movies.

Still though it's a shame that the movie failed, it proves that PR is still a niche franchise.
