Speaking of which, it's actually also based on (or rather was the original design) for the swords Kuon and Houshiai use in the second and third round. I actually didn't notice until episode 7 when I briefly saw Kuon holding both near the beginning of the fourth round.

And as it turns out Takane's knife is also based on the one they had in their past, meaning all the weapons are specifically meant to be important to the player.

I know that sounds extremely obvious, but I bring it up because now I can't help but wonder: What possible childhood trauma or memory lead to that one guy in round 3 wielding a spiked ball on a chain?
