certainty
that can both give him strength and cause him to lash out. Takumi doesn't really have that core ideal. His faith is in other people,

This is also a point I would've made given the chance, but sure enough, you're just doing it for me. Man, and I remember when I thought there was a possibility I'd be the only person in this thread who actually liked Faiz.

First, I like when the show remembers that Yuka and Takumi have a history. She's the first Orphnoch he met that had a humanity, and that was a huge moment for him. They don't get a ton of scenes together anymore, so it's a great callback to have her be the one he reaches out to. Great use of character history.
I remember being pretty impressed going back to Faiz at just how good a job the show does juggling that convoluted web of how all these main characters know each other and what their feelings toward one another are. Little moments like Kaidou recognizing Takumi as the guy who beat him up as Faiz and trying to leave him floating down a river, or even early in this episode where Takumi only just figures out Yuuji, Yuka, and Kaidou all live together, and Mari and Keitarou are like "wait, did you not know this already?" go a long way towards making the world of the show feel that much more well-realized.
