Another thing I love about Converge is that the line is shared by some of my other favorite properties like Gundam and Ultraman. They all look so cool together!


I'm definitely smitten with Figure-Rise standard model kits. They are fun to build and look amazing for their price. As a replacement for Figuarts- no kidding they are about the same price Figuarts used to be, now that the $100+ SS have been raising the standard for figures in looks and price.

In the same vein: Super Mini-pla are astounding. I consider myself a seasoned model kit builder, and the Super Mini-pla line continues to knock it out of the park with amazing detail and superior articulation. I actually heard that Bandai essentially has two teams: The Spirits Team (DX Toys, Figuarts, (Blue Bandai Logo)) and the Shokugan Team (Candy toys, gashapon (Red Bandai Logo)) and they "compete" on toy design and engineering. Super Minipla is Shokugan but they punch at the Spirits level, and I know some of the spirits team has got to be envious of what they've done.

(in reply to bolded section)I think they are called Rider Hero series, it's a line of vinyl figures. Essentially every Rider and Form is represented in the line, and they are pretty cheap. They have Showa stuff too.

My current favorite for Rider is RKF, they are cheap but still have lots of articulation and though not the ideal scale, they are closer to 1:12 than 1:18.

My favorite line from "back in the day" is definitely Rider & Monster series from Ryuki. Each Rider was packaged with their contract monster, plus the figures didn't make use of diecast like the Souchaku Henshin figures of the time. (Souchaku Henshin was the predecessor to Figuarts, and I believe that's what the S.H. in S.H. Figuarts stands for.) Plus if you got Ouja, you actually got all 3 of his monsters and they could even combine into Genocider (Which I still have on my display shelf to this day)
