I think the best thing I can personally contribute is that TV-Nihon's subs are what set me on the path to learning Japanese, a compliment(?) that really illustrates the duality at play here if you think about the layers in it.

Considering I spent this entire thread complaining about translation errors, it should go without saying I think they often deserve criticism. But they have improved on the whole over the years, and they have a genuine historical significance in growing the English-speaking tokusatsu fandom that I hope doesn't go unappreciated in the future. I don't think I would be watching an officially subbed livestream of Heisei Generations Forever later tonight without these guys doing their low resolution, low accuracy subs of Blade all the way back in the day.
