Yeah. As Bernardo was dying, German promised to find him a worthy successor. It unfortunately ended up going nowhere, which is a shame since Black Knights are 99% of the time evil in media and I was hoping this show would subvert things.

By the way, does Bernardo's' armor even have a name? I don't recall it ever being said in-show.

This exact thing doesn't have a usual precedent, but the entire concept of that upgrade in general is a thing that's been done many times in Garo prior to this. It's what I'd like to call, Last Hour Power Up or Miracle Hour Power Up. It's a power up/form change that is created to allow Garo to gain an edge and defeat their opponent.

Cause the fun thing about Makai Armor in general is that there is no real upgrades to them like usual Toku. While some Armor's slowly gain more features over time (though we've only seen one case of that outside Garo), Garo itself is a special case. It's basically the idea of the feelings and bonds with others creating a new temporary power. Which is nice because these are very special last minute power ups that can't be spammed.

Now there are a few cases where Garo gets permanent upgrades, but those are pretty rare compared to the Miracle Hour Power Up I mentioned.

I see. Good to see the anime is keeping things in terms of thematics then. Also makes me wonder what a fusion of Gaia and Garo would be like, considering it's totally possible for Alfonso to be able to do that.
