Asumu’s both the most invisible part of this episode, but also the lynchpin. He’s someone who’s trying to get up to speed in a brand-new setting, while still wanting to support Hibiki. Admitting that he needs a break, that he can’t deliver, to him it smacks of choking. He’s started to think of asking for help, or needing to slow down, as his flaw of cowardice. It’s one thing to try hard in order to help your friends, it’s another to put yourself at risk because you didn’t know your limits.

Oh, asking for help as "cowardice" (I had a case of this too at times)? Here we go again, that Hibiki also had Takeshi group and they help each other, his role model also is dependent on others. At here, his objective to help others (only Akira?) isn't seen yet as Akira wasn't in school yet, but I don't think he pushed himself to the limit for helping others? He was just having an appendicitis.

Ah, it's probably just Hibiki being a showoff of declaring himself as Special Mobile Combat Unit, to me (CMIIW). But probably right, they should understand her more to let her attend class, or that Akira's the one that decided to focus on Takeshi more?

I mean, it's not just occassional shot, it's Ibuki's finishing move (the one where the bullets glow red), and it didn't work on him this time. And "not that fun to watch"? People commonly think fights are fun if the hero struggled and overwhelmed, but....

Hibiki and Hinaka being more similar, it doesn't complete each other like Kasumi and Hibiki filling each other's gaps... (unless you count the "professional" part in that Honda Element). And nice trivia of the Mages in Wizard for that dude (the hat one?).

Which brought me to the "jerks or villains shamelessly get away from their deeds, either from fandom or in-universe" part (not talking about that shopkeeper obviously, but for other cases this happen as comedic sociopathy).
