Sure, but here it feels completely untethered from the usual escalation you should be seeing at this point in the show. There's no (clear) villain orchestrating things, no circumstance that can be altered or prevented. There's just So Many Makamou. If there were a bad guy bringing out all of these monsters, it'd probably be a lot more interesting to watch!

The thing is, it's also way less interesting than a normal Oni plot? There's no rhyme or reason to what's happening. There's no investigation or discovery. You just get these random-ass scenes of Ibuki reading a disc animal and going We Got A Hit three seconds before he gets jumped by a dozen Makamou. I don't... I don't understand what the Oni's plan is, and that's usually not been something I need to complain about.
