I don't... I'm not sure I can say that they had no vision for the show. There's a really solid throughline for Asumu, from Episode 1 to Episode 48, and that shit don't happen by accident. There are a ton of flaws in the second phase, I am thinking about them right this second as I'm writing the second phase Wrap-Up, but you will never convince me that Inoue didn't have something to say on this show.

Also, jesus, if some of this nonsense was due to them realizing that Asumu 1000% should not become an Oni in the final episode, it might've been worth it. I cannot tell you how much angrier I'd've been if that kid got in a costume for the finale.
